Turismo de Tenerife has launched the DRD4-7R Explorer Route to highlight the island’s most authentic, conscious, and regenerative travel experiences. Named after the gene variation linked to a natural impulse for exploration, the route steers travelers away from generic all-inclusive resorts into Tenerife’s rich biodiversity, adrenaline sports, and cultural heritage. The route includes immersive nature experiences in Anaga Rural Park, Sendero de los Sentidos, and Teide volcanic trails.
Eco-conscious maritime and active sports include ethical cetacean watching from Los Gigantes, windsurfing at El Médano, and parapenting over Adeje. Cultural heritage includes UNESCO World Heritage streets of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, colonial architecture of La Orotava, and historical sites in Santa Cruz. Starlight astronomy observations use specialized telescopes in Mt. Teide’s skies, certified by the Starlight Foundation.
Volcanic enotourism features tasting sessions at local vineyards growing wines in volcanic soils, paired with zero-mile Canarian food. The route emphasises regenerative travel experiences and pushes travelers deep into Tenerife’s natural and cultural landscape.
