Irish Landmark Trust has confirmed that all its properties will open to the public free of charge on Sunday 16 August as part of National Heritage Week, which runs from 15–23 August. The annual Heritage Open Days run from 10am to 4pm with self-guided tours throughout. The 2026 theme is “Heritage at Risk,” which the Trust states sits close to its mission of saving, sharing and sustaining at-risk heritage.
The Head Gardener’s House at Fota has already fully booked out through to the autumn months since bookings opened on 1 July. The property is located within the grounds of Fota House and its gardens and arboretum. Winter months remain available for booking with walks through autumnal leaves and the return of Wonderlights with magical displays and an Alpine Market.
The Trust recently hosted a lecture at White’s Hotel in Wexford with Kevin Blackwood on the Saunderscourt project. The company is seeking donations to support the completion of the project. Heritage Open Days are the Trust’s clearest chance to embody the “Share” part of its mission.
