Spain heads for a new peak in international visitors this summer with around 43m tourists expected between June and September, six per cent more than in 2025 and spending near €64bn.
Yet domestic challenges persist. According to the National Statistics Institute, 32.2pc of Spaniards could not manage a week away from home last year.
Consumer group OCU notes that 27pc plan no holiday this summer while another 8pc remain uncertain, citing rising living costs in housing, food and energy that push vacations down priority lists for many families.
