The technology company has been rolling out the digital workflow system to replace paper-based fuel processes throughout the network during the current financial year. The implementation has been progressing across multiple locations since the partnership agreement was finalised, with the platform providing pilots with enhanced visibility of fuel information and more accurate data for flight planning decisions.
The digital refuelling system has demonstrated capacity to reduce unnecessary fuel uplift and associated carbon emissions through improved operational efficiency. Early projections indicate the platform could save approximately 10,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually while simultaneously reducing paperwork by up to 600,000 sheets per year. The technology enables real-time data transmission between aircraft, fuelling vehicles and operational control centres, eliminating the manual documentation that previously accompanied each refuelling event.
The aviation industry has been exploring digital solutions for ground operations as part of broader sustainability initiatives across the sector. The eHandshake platform integrates with existing airport infrastructure and requires minimal additional equipment at fuelling stations. Network operators have been evaluating the system’s performance metrics since the initial deployment phases commenced earlier this year.
