The Picture Voice Art Exhibition 2026 has returned to Mary Immaculate College (MIC) in Limerick to showcase the artistic talents, unique perspectives and creative journeys of autistic secondary school students. The exhibition takes place on Saturday 5 September 2026 at 11:00 AM in Room T117, An tSlí Corridor inside the Tara Building at MIC. The 2026 theme, “Spectrum of Strength,” focuses on how participants view their autism as a personal strength.
The project originally grew out of a Master’s degree initiative in Special Educational Needs at MIC by Jarlath Healy, who serves as an Autism Advisor for County Limerick with the National Council for Special Education (NCSE). This year’s event features submissions from autistic teenagers across multiple Irish counties, including Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Galway and Dublin. Every submitted artwork is displayed in the exhibition, with ten selected entries professionally framed and highlighted, and student artists given the optional platform to attend and speak publicly about their work.
The overall goal of Picture Voice is to offer young autistic people an empowering platform to express themselves freely through visual mediums and have their authentic voices heard by the community. The exhibition has grown since its inception, attracting participation from schools and families across the region. MIC has hosted the exhibition as part of its commitment to inclusive education and neurodiversity awareness.
