Tourism Ireland attended the Omega European Masters in Crans-Montana in Switzerland at the weekend, with four golf and tourism operators from the island of Ireland joining the organisation at the tournament. G Golf Ireland, LeaTours, Gorse and Thistle and EI Travel Group participated alongside Tourism Ireland at the event, one of the DP World Tour’s annual golf tournaments that attracts approximately 50,000 spectators each year. Visitors to the Golf in Ireland stand had the opportunity to test their knowledge about golf on the island of Ireland through an interactive quiz and to take part in fun, golf-themed challenges.

Tourism Ireland used the platform to remind golfers that Adare Manor will host the Ryder Cup next year and that the Irish Open will take place at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg next week. Golf represents the world’s largest sports-related travel market, with Tourism Ireland working to drive home the message that a golfing holiday in Ireland offers much more than a round of 18 holes. The combination of world-class golf and unique hospitality plays a key role in attracting Swiss golfers to the island of Ireland.

Nadine Lehmann, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for DACH countries, confirmed that the presence at the Omega European Masters provided an excellent opportunity to remind Swiss golfers that the island of Ireland offers some of the very best golf in the world, as well as spectacular scenery and fantastic visitor experiences. Tourism Ireland continues to promote Ireland’s golf offering to the DACH markets, with Switzerland representing an important source market for golf tourism. The event provided a platform to showcase Ireland’s top courses and the broader visitor experience available to golfers travelling to the island.
