Visit Waterford has launched a new Waterford Whiskey Trail on Culture Night, inviting visitors to experience the county’s tradition of making and storytelling. The trail is designed as a two-day experience connecting whiskey heritage with culture, craftsmanship, food, hospitality and place. The initiative brings together distilleries, historic estates and coastal views.
The trail begins in Waterford city at the House of Waterford, where visitors can see crystal being crafted by hand. In the historic Viking Triangle, whiskey and heritage come together at The Reg with the Whiskey & Wake Experience within the city’s 900-year-old medieval walls. The route continues through whiskey bars and restaurants including O’Sullivan’s Vintage Social, Revolution Craft Beer & Whiskey Bar and Bodega. Day One ends at the Granville Hotel, birthplace of Thomas Francis Meagher, in the Thomas Francis Meagher Bar.
Day Two heads into the county from the city to the countryside and coast. Beginning at Curraghmore Estate, the story starts with cereals grown on the historic estate for its Single Estate Whiskey. The journey continues to Blackwater Distillery in Ballyduff, where visitors can see a working distillery. The trail culminates on the Waterford coast at the Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore. Visit Waterford stated that the trail reflects the county’s growing reputation as a destination for food, drink, culture and heritage.
