The Boyne Valley has unveiled its 2026 Home of Halloween programme, bringing together four flagship festivals and hundreds of events across Meath and South Louth from Friday 2 October to Sunday 8 November 2026. The region has celebrated Halloween in the place where the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain has been observed for more than 2,000 years.
The programme has opened with Spirits of Meath, which has run from Friday 2 October to Sunday 8 November and has transformed locations across County Meath with family-friendly Halloween experiences. Drogheda’s Lú Festival of Light has illuminated the historic town centre from Friday 23 October to Sunday 26 October with large-scale projections and light installations. The Púca Festival has taken place in Trim and Athboy from Thursday 29 October to Sunday 1 November, and the Samhain Festival of Food and Culture has run in Kells from Thursday 5 November to Sunday 8 November.
The Boyne Valley has been one of seven Home of Halloween destinations. Ireland Home of Halloween has been a collaborative all-island initiative led by Fáilte Ireland, Tourism Ireland and TourismNI. The programme has celebrated the heritage, culture, food and folklore of the Boyne Valley across five weeks of events.
