American Express has opened its newest Centurion Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, marking the company’s 33rd lounge globally and its first in continental Europe. The new Centurion Lounge is also the first lounge at Schiphol operated by a global credit card company. The lounge is located between Concourses E and F, spans nearly 6,000 square feet and was designed to celebrate Dutch art, landscapes and culture. It is open to passengers daily from 6:00 AM to 9:30 PM.
Amsterdam’s landscapes are evoked through a palette of blues, greens and earth tones while linear, repetitive elements pay homage to the city’s canals. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in natural light highlighting textures including black quartzite, brass trim and subtle wood accents. Local Dutch artists lead the lounge’s design with works by Mieke Jonker, Reinder Schmidt, Geesien Postema and Thirza Schaap throughout. An imposing painting of the Amex bulldog by Jonker weaves in Dutch motifs such as Delft Blue plates, floral designs and silhouettes of former Dutch queens.
The culinary experience follows a Dutch-inspired playbook. The lounge has a full bar with beer and cocktails and its buffet features seasonal dishes inspired by Dutch and regional European flavours. Amsterdam’s coffee culture shines through in the Blue Roast Coffee Bar where dedicated baristas craft drinks with locally sourced coffee. This marks the fourth coffee bar in the Centurion Lounge network.
