- Korean Air finalises order for 103 Boeing aircraft

Korean Air has finalised its order for 103 Boeing aircraft comprising twenty 777-9s, twenty-five 787-10s, fifty 737-10s and eight 777-8Fs. This completes the procurement commitment revealed in August 2025. Deliveries are planned between 2026 and 2039. The South Korean airline also finalised agreements with GE Aerospace and CFM International covering 21 spare engines and a 15-year engine maintenance contract for 28 aircraft.
The order supports Korean Air’s capacity growth through the Asiana integration while improving fuel efficiency and pushing forward its carbon reduction targets. The 787-10s are likely to be the more immediate change for premium travellers with Korean Air already operating the type since 2024 with the Prestige Suites 2.0 business class cabin.
The 777-9 has not flown for any airline as Boeing’s 777X programme remains behind its original schedule with first deliveries expected in 2027. The 50 Boeing 737-10s may have the greater impact on travellers given how many short-haul and regional Korean Air routes are currently flown on older 737s and A321s.
