Edinburgh Airport has unveiled a £500m (€598m) five-year investment programme under the banner Our Future marking the single largest capital investment in Scottish aviation history. The initiative is backed by the airport’s owners VINCI Airports and Global Infrastructure Partners. The first key milestone of this phased expansion is the South East Pier expansion which is currently underway and scheduled to open in summer 2027.
A phased transformation of the terminal and core infrastructure will expand the terminal footprint by 60 pc, grow the portfolio of airlines and destinations, meet rising passenger demand and enhance the passenger experience. Key features include terminal expansion, airfield upgrades with new boarding gates and aircraft stands, an expanded check-in hall, a larger departure lounge and modernised international arrival and baggage reclaim facilities.
The programme also includes a complete transformation of the shopping and food and beverage zones to offer a wider selection of passenger amenities. Structural enhancements include a new access road and enhanced electric vehicle infrastructure across the campus. The announcement was marked by a site visit from Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney alongside Edinburgh Airport Chief Executive Gordon Dewar.
