- United Airlines has become the first airline to allow passengers to log in to their personal Spotify accounts on seatback screens
- The service is powered by Starlink Wi-Fi and available on eligible flights
- Customers can stream music, podcasts, audiobooks and videos from their own Spotify library
- The rollout will expand across half of United’s fleet by spring 2027
- United expects to offer 219,000 seatback screens by the end of 2027
United Airlines has integrated Spotify into its seatback entertainment system, allowing customers to log in to their personal accounts and stream content directly from the screen. The service is available on Starlink-enabled aircraft and lets passengers access their saved playlists, podcasts, audiobooks and videos. Customers can scan a QR code to pair their phone with the seatback screen.
The integration builds on United’s existing Spotify content offering, which launched in June 2025 with more than 450 hours of audiobooks, video podcasts and music playlists. Since then, more than 2.3m customers have enjoyed more than 1.9m hours of Spotify content onboard. The new functionality gives customers access to their personal library and recommendations.
United expects to complete Starlink installations by the end of 2027 and will offer more than 219,000 seatback screens across nearly its entire mainline fleet. The airline currently offers more than 181,000 screens, representing about 85pc of its mainline fleet.
Andrew Nocella shared “Our customers are used to streaming entertainment that’s tailored to them, and that level of personalization shouldn’t stop when they board one of our planes. Now, thanks to Starlink, they can watch and listen to their own Spotify content right on their seatback screen and pick up their favorites right where they left off. From video podcasts and live performances to music and audiobooks, our collaboration with Spotify gives customers more of what they love onboard and is helping us create an elevated experience for everyone who chooses to fly United.”
