The reinterment of the remains of Irish, Scots, and French workers who died during the construction of the Rideau Canal is taking place today in the Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa.
The remains were discovered within the past ten years during excavations for the Ottawa Light Rail Transit System.

Ellen MacIsaac, an award-winning Irish language singer and choral director from Ottawa, Canada, will be performing live from Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa immediately after the reinterment online for the Clé club in Dublin.
Ellen has a deep connection to Dublin, as she received a PhD in ethnomusicology from UCD, specializing in traditional singing in Irish and English. After the memorial event, Ellen will join a live “outside broadcast” from the cemetery.
