Qantas chairman Richard Goyder plans to retire before the 2024 AGM, in response to public pressure and the controversy surrounding former CEO Alan Joyce’s early exit.
Goyder’s retirement is part of Qantas’ broader “board renewal” strategy, aimed at addressing the damage to the brand and rebuilding trust among stakeholders.
Additionally, Jacqueline Hey and Maxine Brenner are set to retire in February 2024, further contributing to the board’s renewal efforts.
