Mustafa Ozkaya is the newly appointed director of the Turkish Tourism Board for Ireland and Britain. His office will be based in London at the Turkish Office of Culture and Information.
In his new role, Ozkaya will oversee all tourism promotion activities for Turkiye in Britain and Ireland, including engaging with the industry, handling marketing and communications, and liaising with the government. With a background in media, Ozkaya has previously worked with Al Jazeera and Anadolu, where he served as the deputy director general.
A statement from Turkish Tourism says Ozkaya’s appointment highlights the importance both for Turkiye. The number of visitors from these countries has been growing steadily, and Ozkaya aims to maintain this positive trajectory. He recognises the contributions of travel industry partners in creating flight and holiday programmes across Ireland and Ireland, and plans to focus on engaging and supporting them.
Although Mr Ozkaya is unable to attend the ITAA event, noteworthy developments taking place in its tourism industry include the ITAA conference in Atnalya and Abta’s annual Travel Convention in Bodrum this month, showcasing the destination to industry professionals. Additionally, Turkiye is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its foundation as a republic this year, adding historical significance to its tourism offerings.
Turkiye has initiated a partnership program with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. With over 6,000 certified sustainable accommodation facilities already in place, this program is instrumental in enhancing the country’s sustainability practices and restructuring its tourism industry over a three-year period.
