Belfast International airport turns sod on €115m investment programme

VINCI Airports has announced a five-year €115m investment programme at Belfast International Airport with phase one already underway.

The construction of a €29m security terminal is currently in progress and is scheduled to be completed by summer 2024.

The investment will bring several improvements, including revamping existing facilities, enhancing the airside departure area by adding departure gates, seating, new shopping and retail spaces, and extending the immigration area.

Additionally, VINCI Airports plans to develop a new solar farm on the airport site, capable of generating 22.4 GWh of electricity and saving 12,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. This solar farm will be operated by SunMind, a photovoltaic subsidiary of VINCI Concessions.

The investment is expected to create about 400 jobs with local construction firms during the building phase, aiming to increase operational efficiency, enhance the passenger experience, and improve environmental performance at Belfast International Airport.
