Aer Lingus aims for 20pc of Manchester t/Atlantic market

Aer Lingus expects to capture about 20pc of the transatlantic market from Manchester, taking advantage of assets and the collapse of Thomas Cook in 2019. compared to a previous 3pc share with all traffic routed through Dublin.

Accounts for Aer Lingus’ English based operation indicate revenue of €85.5m from passenger revenue and €1m from cargo and a profit of €5.1m. 

Operating expenditure was €81.6m in its first full year of operation from Manchester, with the largest costs being €45m for fuel, €17.3m for engineering and lease expenses, and €15.2m for employee costs. The revenue generated included.

On a group level, Aer Lingus achieved a €45m profit in 2022, with revenue increasing to €1.8bn from €367m the previous year.
