Cork’s Kent Station will undergo construction works to improve the commuting experience and develop the railway infrastructure in County Cork.

A new Platform 6 will be created to increase passenger capacity, facilitate services to Mallow and Midleton/Cobh, and have canopies for passenger protection.

Kent Station’s existing Platform 5 will be extended, the station’s underpass will reopen for enhanced accessibility, and this project represents the largest investment in the Cork rail network.

This project is part of the Cork Area Commuter Rail program and is funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility. It includes the construction of a through-platform, double-tracking, and re-signalling, which will help future electrification. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
