Conor McCarthy, Executive Chairman of Emerald Airlines, has criticised the delays in approving an increased passenger cap at Dublin Airport, stating that they make no sense.
The current planning rules allow Dublin Airport to have a maximum of 32m passengers per year.
McCarthy emphasises that the passenger cap has nothing to do with climate concerns but is instead related to the airport’s physical infrastructure and design constraints. He mentions that the cap was introduced when the new terminal was built, although improvements have been made to enhance passenger experience, such as automated check-in and new security systems.
