Lufthansa has announced details of its upcoming free inflight messaging service on short and medium-haul flights starting from mid-January 2024.

Passengers on A320 Family aircraft with wifi connectivity will be able to send and receive unlimited messages, including photos, on their smartphones or tablets.

To use this service, passengers need to log into FlyNet using either their Miles & More card number or an email address registered with the Lufthansa Group Travel ID. Those who don’t have either can register while onboard.

Lufthansa also stated that starting in mid-January, they will reduce the cost of other inflight internet packages, including streaming, by almost 50pc. Although specific details about the new prices were not provided. Other airlines, such as Finnair, have also recently introduced free inflight messaging on European services operated by Airbus aircraft.
