Explore Cork app, developed by Cork County Council, was recognised at the annual Good Practice Ceremony hosted by the National Oversight and Audit Commission in Kilkenny.
The app was launched in 2021 in response to the challenges faced by the tourism industry during the Covid-19 pandemic.
It offers features such as ‘What’s Near Me?’ which provides information on 850 points of interest in the county and is available in four languages.
The event showcased innovative projects from various sectors and highlighted the positive impact of local authorities in driving excellence.
The ‘Explore Cork’ app won the ‘Best Tourism Initiative’ award at the LAMA All Ireland Community Council Awards in 2023. It has been strategically promoted through marketing efforts and has garnered over 22,250 downloads so far.
