Munich airport plans to achieve net-zero emissions by 2035, 15 years ahead of schedule.

They aim to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by at least 90pc and remove the remaining 10pc through measures such as creating a “climate forest.”

The airport’s strategy focuses on energy supply, airport facilities, construction practices, and mobility.

They will utilize renewable natural gas, expand photovoltaics, purchase renewable electricity, optimize energy performance in buildings, and transition to electric and alternative fuel vehicles.

The airport is also committed to reducing Scope 3 emissions and has signed a collaboration agreement for research on sustainable aviation fuels.
