The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, has allocated €2.3m in funding for the development of 50 outdoor adventure projects across Ireland.
The funding will be used to support the preparatory work required to bring these projects to a shovel-ready stage, enhancing outdoor amenities such as walkways, cycleways, rivers, lakes, and beaches.
The investment aims to attract visitors and boost local economies, further establishing Ireland as a destination for adventure tourism.
The funding will initially focus on 50 projects in the early stages, providing up to €50,000 each to bring them to a shovel-ready stage, with the potential for further funding in the future.
It is part of the government’s commitment to rural development through the “Our Rural Future” policy, with a focus on investing in outdoor amenities and supporting communities across the country.
