Security firm Brinks has filed a lawsuit claiming that Air Canada was negligent and liable for the multi-million dollar gold heist.

The theft occurred earlier this year at a cargo facility in Toronto Pearson Airport, where $23.8m worth of gold and cash was stolen.

The thief supposedly used a fake ID and presented fraudulent documents at an Air Canada cargo facility.

Air Canada issued a statement denying all the allegations in the lawsuit and rejected any responsibility.

According to the airline, Brink’s Switzerland Ltd. did not declare a value for carriage or pay for insurance on the shipments, and Air Canada was not aware of the lack of insurance.

The lawsuit contends that Air Canada failed to implement appropriate security measures.

The police investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made yet, while the stolen shipment remains missing.
