Mexico’s Tulum International Airport (TQO) was inaugurated this weekend, aiming to alleviate congestion at Cancun International Airport (CUN).

Viva Aerobus became the first carrier to serve the new airport, with flights from Mexico City International Airport (MEX), Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU), and Monterrey International Airport (MTY).

Grupo Aeromexico also started flying to Tulum, initially operating one daily flight from Mexico City, with plans to expand service from NLU in the future.

Viva Aerobus and Aeromexico are currently the only domestic airlines flying to Tulum, but Viva Aerobus plans to launch five new routes from several cities in Mexico.

Starting in March 2024, four US carriers are set to offer international flights to Tulum: Delta Air Lines from Atlanta, Spirit Airlines from Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, American Airlines from Charlotte, Dallas Fort Worth, and Miami, and United Airlines from Newark, Houston, and possibly Los Angeles.
