Amsterdam Schiphol has reached the milestone of one million customers for its pre-booked security time slots service.
The service, which initially launched for Schengen routes in March and then expanded to non-Schengen routes in June, allows passengers to reserve slots up to three days before departure for free.
Passengers receive a confirmation email with a QR code that can be scanned at the airport to direct them to the correct security check entry point.
Schiphol has announced that Barcelona, Malaga, and Lisbon were the most popular destinations for Schengen flights, while Heathrow, Dubai, and Curacao topped the list for non-Schengen flights.
Schiphol expects a 30pc increase in passenger traffic compared to last Christmas, with around three million passengers passing through the airport between December 22 and January 7. The busiest days will see approximately 60,000 travellers departing, with London, Istanbul, Barcelona, Dubai, and Milan being the most popular destinations.
