Ireland West Airport is expecting a record-breaking Christmas period with approximately 40,000 passengers passing through, representing a 15pc increase from last year.
The busiest day for arriving passengers will be December 22nd, with over 3,500 passengers expected to arrive.
Festivities have already begun at the airport, with performances from local schools and choirs. Mid West Radio will also be broadcasting from the airport on December 22nd.
The airport recently installed a new next-generation cabin baggage screening system, allowing passengers to keep liquids and laptops in their hand luggage, making the security process quicker and easier.
