Thailand’s government has approved a temporary tax cut on alcohol and entertainment venues until the end of 2024 to help boost the night-time entertainment industry.

Taxes on wine will be reduced from 10pc to 5pc, and the 10pc tax on spirits will be discontinued entirely.

The excise tax on entertainment venues will also be halved to 5pc.

The government expects these measures to increase tourist spending and offset any cut in tax revenues, projecting 34m tourist arrivals in 2024.
