Hundreds of passengers at Birmingham Airport experienced delays due to an elevator malfunction that trapped an airline crew, including the pilot.

The crew was stuck in the malfunctioning lift for over three hours and had to be freed by firefighters.

The incident led to nearly four hours of delay for passengers flying to Doha, Qatar, who were given refreshment vouchers in response.

The airport apologised to the affected airline crew members and customers for the incident.
