Edinburgh passenger ‘fell to death’ from an assistance lift

An investigation is underway following the tragic death in late November of an elderly passenger at Edinburgh Airport.

The incident occurred while the 81-year-old was being assisted in exiting the plane on an assistance lift.

The passenger fell about six feet from the lift platform while leaning over to pass his bag to a ground worker.

He sustained serious head injuries and passed away approximately 10 days later in the hospital.

The incident took place in late November and is currently being investigated by Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive.
