An appeals court in Boston has confirmed that it will hear arguments in June regarding JetBlue Airways and Spirit Airlines’ appeal to overturn the blockage of their planned acquisition.

The United States Department of Justice, six states, and the District of Columbia are plaintiffs in the case, and they have been instructed to respond to the defendants’ initial brief by the end of April 11.

The court order sets a slower timeline than the airlines had requested, with a potential ruling expected after the July 24 deadline for the merger. The airlines argue that the merger is contingent on financing that expires on that same date.
