Transport Minister Eamon Ryan has told TD Matt Shanahan he can not provide a timeline for when a decision will be made regarding funding for the runway extension at Waterford Airport.

Potential investors and airport officials are eager for the government to decide on funding within the next two months to avoid delays in construction, possibly pushing it back to spring next year.

Waterford Airport, which has not had commercial scheduled airline services since 2016, aims to attract airlines like Ryanair by extending the runway to accommodate jets like the Boeing 737. Talks have already taken place with potential interested airlines.
