Progress has been made on appointing a design consultant for the N25 Midleton-Youghal Scheme, which will benefit commuters in west Waterford traveling to Cork.

The appointment of a design consultant will accelerate the public consultation and route selection processes for the upgrade of the N25.

The N25 between Midleton and Youghal via Killeagh and Castlemartyr is known to be a dangerous section of road with a history of major accidents.

Upgrading the N25 in Castlemartyr and Killeagh will significantly improve the quality of life for users of the road in West Waterford.

The expected reduced journey times and improved safety will benefit those traveling from West Waterford to Cork and East Cork to Dungarvan, and relieve the pressure on the N25, which experiences high traffic volume.
