The Antitrust Division of the USA Department of Justice has requested additional information from Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines regarding their planned merger in December 2023.

Both airlines have confirmed receiving the request and will respond promptly while cooperating with the DOJ’s review.

Alaska Air Group agreed to acquire Hawaiian Airlines for approximately ¢1.9bn, with both airlines continuing to operate under their own brands.

The CEOs of both airlines express confidence in the merger’s pro-consumer and pro-competitive nature, with Hawaiian Airlines open to alternative buyout offers if Alaska’s takeover falls through.
