Green Party minister Ossian Smyth accuses Ryanair of using the passenger cap issue at Dublin Airport as a distraction from price increases.
He told an Oireachtas Committee that Ryanair is €100 more expensive than its nearest rival for a flight to London.
Smyth criticised Ryanair for its showmanship, trickery, and provocative statements, suggesting they are deflecting from addressing the real issues.
He points out that while Ryanair presents itself as a low fares airline, its fares have increased by 24pc and are now more expensive than competitors for flights to London and Paris.
Smyth said he supports limitations on private jet flights at Dublin Airport, highlighting the carbon emissions and classifying leisure and luxury private jets as “an obscenity.”
