ACI World’s report forecasts global air passenger traffic to reach 9.7bn by the end of 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic levels, and to double to 19.3bn by 2042.
The report projects domestic traffic numbers to hit 10.6bn and international traffic to reach 8.7bn by 2042.
China is expected to overtake the US as the top market by total passenger traffic by 2042, with India remaining in third place and Indonesia moving up to fourth.
