Boeing has removed Ed Clark, head of the 737 Max programme, in the wake of the door plug blowout incident on an Alaska Airlines flight.
The 737 Max, Boeing’s top-selling plane, faced scrutiny due to past crashes and safety issues, leading to a 20-month grounding in 2019-2020.
A preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board found missing bolts on the door plug of the involved Boeing 737 Max.
Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun took responsibility for the incident, stating that Boeing is held accountable, leading to Clark’s departure and a reshuffling of executives within Boeing’s Commercial Airplanes unit. Elizabeth Lund was appointed Senior Vice President for BCA Quality.
