Popocatepetl volcano, located 50 miles from Mexico City, erupted 13 times within a day, causing the cancellation of 22 flights at Mexico City and Puebla International Airports and prompting warnings from the country’s National Disaster Prevention Centre advising against climbing the volcano due to debris ejected from the crater.

The volcanic ash emitted by Popocatepetl led to flight disruptions at Mexico City’s main airport on Tuesday, impacting air travel out of the capital, while another airport closer to the volcano temporarily halted operations in response to the volcanic activity.
