Former Boeing employee, John Barnett, known for blowing the whistle on alleged safety concerns at Boeing, was found dead in the US from a “self-inflicted” gunshot wound, as confirmed by a coroner in South Carolina.

Barnett, a quality manager at Boeing for 30 years until his retirement in 2017, had been providing evidence in a whistleblower lawsuit against the company in the days leading up to his death.
In 2019, Barnett disclosed concerns to the BBC regarding potential faults in up to a quarter of the oxygen systems and allegations of deliberately fitting faulty parts to planes on a rushed production line compromising safety, claims that Boeing refuted.
