Marie Grenham, the owner of Grenham Travel in Athlone, has announced her retirement at the end of 2024, leading to the closure of the travel agency after 112 years of service to Athlone and beyond.
Existing bookings with customers will continue without interruption until December 31, 2024, with outstanding vouchers honoured until November 6, 2024, offering customers the options to book for 2024, receive a refund, or transfer the voucher to Worldchoice partners Keller Travel, Fahy Travel, or Grogan Travel.

Grenham Travel, originally founded by Marie’s grandfather John Grenham in 1911, has seen three generations of the same family operate the business, with Marie taking over in 1999 following her father’s passing.
Under Marie’s leadership, Grenham Travel received accolades such as the Travel Agency of the Year award in 2017 and the Travel Agency Marketing Campaign of the Year award in 2018, recognizing her contributions to the travel industry.
Marie is announcing the closure in advance to ensure an orderly wind-up of operations and assist customers with existing bookings and vouchers, aligning with the family business motto of providing service with sincerity and integrity.
