Iberia customers traveling between Madrid and Barcelona can now use facial recognition at biometric boarding services, allowing them to go through security control and the boarding gate without showing their cell phone or travel documents.

The service is available to all customers with an Iberia Plus card, who can register through the private area of the Iberia app by entering personal data, taking a photo of their ID, scanning the document chip, and taking a selfie.

Travelers must be over 18 years old and have a Spanish national identity card or an electronic EU passport to register for facial recognition.

Iberia has implemented six gates at Madrid-Barajas airport and one at Barcelona-El Prat airport for this service, with plans to expand compatibility to Android phones in the future, ensuring data security through encryption systems.
