Funding of €5.6m announced for regional airports in Donegal, Kerry, and Mayo

Funding of €5.6m has been announced for regional airports in Donegal, Kerry, and Mayo.

Ireland West Airport, Knock to receive €3.66m, Donegal Airport €1.299m million and Kerry Airport €681k in capital funding for 2024.

Funding includes investment in safety and security, projects with a sustainability focus, and carbon reduction plans in airports.

Minister of State Jack Chambers highlighted the 9pc rise in passenger traffic compared with pre pandemic at regional airports as he made the announcement: “ten of the projects approved for funding, amounting to €1.2m million, have a fundamental sustainability focus. These include carbon reduction plans in Donegal and at Ireland West and a project to upgrade to electric vehicles at Kerry Airport and at Ireland West,”
