Dublin has made it to Delta’s Top 10 most searched-for international destinations this summer as the airline gears up for its busiest summer season in Ireland, introducing a new route from Dublin to Minneapolis and starting seasonal service from Shannon to New York-JFK in May.

According to Delta.com search data, Dublin ranks eighth on the list of international destinations for American travellers this summer, surpassing cities like Barcelona and joining other popular destinations like London, Paris, and Rome. Searches for these top destinations have increased more than 150pc from the previous year.

With up to 33 weekly flights, Delta aims to bring thousands more American visitors to Ireland, connecting them from over 200 destinations via Delta’s U.S. hubs in Atlanta, Boston, Minneapolis, and New York-JFK to Dublin, and via New York-JFK to Shannon. Statistics from Tourism Ireland show that 72pc of US visitors to Ireland are holidaymakers who stay longer, spend more, and are high users of premium products.

Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India, expressed excitement for the airline’s expansion in Ireland, offering customers new destinations and travel options this summer. The new Dublin to Minneapolis and Shannon to New York-JFK flights will use Boeing 767-300 aircraft, providing customers with four different product experiences.

Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe said “we are expanding our footprint in Ireland next month, offering our customers a new Delta destination and more nonstop and one-stop travel options throughout the Americas from Ireland. Delta’s convenient schedule between Ireland and the U.S. and the start of these new routes will boost trade and tourism opportunities here in Ireland thanks to thousands more available seats this summer.”
