EasyJet is in the process of acquiring the SR Technics maintenance facility at Malta International, pending regulatory approval, aligning with its strategy of bringing aircraft maintenance operations in-house.

The airline submitted an official notice of concentration to the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) on April 18, allowing interested parties to file objections within seven days from April 26.

SR Technics has been based in Malta since 2010, with EasyJet as its launch customer. In October last year, a new three-year contract was announced between SR Technics Malta and easyJet to service its all-Airbus fleet.

As part of its in-house maintenance expansion, EasyJet invested EUR20 million in a four-bay hangar facility at Berlin Brandenburg International in January 2023. EasyJet operates a total of 245 Airbus narrowbody aircraft across its various subsidiaries in the UK, Europe, and Switzerland.
