Emirates has partnered with the Aviation Impact Accelerator at the University of Cambridge, investing USD$200m in a Sustainability Fund for R&D projects aimed at reducing fossil fuel impact in commercial aviation.
The collaboration focusses on supporting climate impact tools, data modeling advancements, and future projects to cut global aviation emissions, led by the Whittle Laboratory and Institute for Sustainability Leadership at the University of Cambridge.
The partnership includes industrial partners like Boeing, Rolls-Royce, and IATA, with a modelling capability between the Bennett Innovation Lab and CISL seeking to accelerate net-zero aviation.
Emirates aims to explore tools like RECCE, JIST, and CRAFT to compare fuels and technologies, simulate future flight scenarios, and analyse future scenarios for achieving net-zero aviation, enhancing their participation in workshops and investment in sustainable aviation solutions.
