Ibiza and Majorca have reinforced existing rules to curb excessive partying by tourists, including fines for street drinking and party boats violating regulations.

Updated legislation prohibits the sale of alcohol from shops between 9:30pm and 8am and restricts party boats from operating near popular tourist areas. Late-night sales of alcohol are prohibited in Llucmajor, Palma, Calvia (Magaluf) in Majorca and Sant Antoni in Ibiza.

Local government officials say the aim is to change the tourism model in the destinations. The rules are to be in effect until December 31, 2027, with hopes that they may become unnecessary in the future if tourists adjust their behaviour.
