A €22m dual-tracked rollercoaster has opened in Emerald Park, Ashbourne, Co Meath, Ireland’s only theme park.

The new intertwining attractions include ‘Na Fianna Force’, a suspended thrill coaster reaching 32 meters and 90 km/h, and ‘The Quest’, a family boomerang rollercoaster, alongside ‘The Celtic Dreamer’ in a themed 6.5-acre section called ‘Tír Na nÓg’.

Sixty-five rollercoaster enthusiasts from around the world will sample the new rides, engineered by Dutch coaster suppliers Vekoma, a Dutch company responsible for the two family coasters at Legoland Florida, Boomerang in Parque Warner Madrid and the Looping Coaster in Terra Mitica in Benidorm.

Charles Coyle Managing Director of Emerald Park said “€22 million has been invested so it’s a huge, proud and exciting moment and it’s the culmination of seven years of hard work. It’s really unique there’s nothing else like it in Europe. It’s the last deal my father Raymond Coyle shook hands on. It’s a bittersweet moment but it’s also a proud moment as well because this brings his vision to life. Everything that he hoped to achieve we have managed to do that. It’s testament to the work of the entire team and he’d be incredibly proud.”
