The rejuvenation of Balbriggan’s Quay Street and Harbour in north county Dublin has commenced, marked by the sod-turning ceremony attended by Minister for Housing and Heritage Darragh O’Brien and Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Adrian Henchy.
The multi-million-euro project will transform the area into a high-quality public amenity and premier visitor destination, featuring a multi-purpose plaza, linear park, and new public amenities such as toilets and changing rooms.
The development aims to seamlessly integrate Quay Street, Mill Street, and Harbour Road, with enhancements to the River Bracken and addition of new surfacing, seating, green spaces, and play areas, largely funded by the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund.
Local leaders express optimism that the project will provide a central meeting space, promote domestic tourism, and represent a significant investment in the town’s future, with John Craddock Ltd appointed as the contractors.
