Re-opening of the Barrow railway bridge in order to boost the economy of the south east region has been prioritised by Irish Rail CEO Jim Meade and Minister Eamon Ryan.
Estimated repair costs for the bridge amount to €5m to €6m, with plans to recoup the costs through insurance claims from the companies involved in damaging the bridge.
Mr Meade emphasised the need for improved connectivity within the region, including extending train services to Waterford from Dublin and enhancing connections between Waterford and Limerick to benefit students, employees, and tourists.
