WestJet Group has delayed the integration of Sunwing Airlines into WestJet, shifting the completion timeline to April 27, 2025, from the original target of October 26, 2024.
Both carriers will continue business as usual in their winter 2024/2025 schedules, with the integration of Sunwing planned to be completed as much as possible by the original date.
The acquisition of Sunwing Airlines and Sunwing Vacations was successfully completed by WestJet Group in 2023, with the integration of its LCC brand Swoop also finalized in November.
WestJet Group aims to increase its presence in the Canadian leisure market and serve 39 destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2024, reaching a 45pc market share in this segment, with one in two vacation packages sold in Canada through brands under the Sunwing Vacations Group.
